Payment Policy for Patients with Deductible Insurance Plans and Co-Payments
Priority 1 Urgent Care strives to make the billing and collections process transparent and straightforward.
For patients with deductible insurance plans, a deposit of up to $100 may be required at the time of registration and will be applied toward the patient’s deductible or co-insurance responsibility. Any required co-payments are due at the time of service.
Payments may be made by credit card, debit card, cash, check, or HSA/FSA card. Tap-to-pay options (Apple Pay and Google Pay) are also accepted.
If an overpayment occurs after insurance processing, a refund will be issued to the responsible party.
I don’t have my insurance card with me, can I still be seen?
Patients are encouraged to present a valid insurance card at the time of service. If unavailable, patients may still be seen with valid photo identification and insurance member information, or may elect to pay for the visit at the time of service and seek reimbursement from their insurer.
Do you accept cash and credit cards?
Yes we accept both, and tap payments (ApplePay, GooglePay) is also available. You are also welcome to use a debit card or Medical Flexible Spending Account/Health Savings Account (HSA) card.
What is the Payment Card on File system?
The Payment Card on File (PCOF) system allows for smoother billing and payment of patient-responsible balances that may not be fully covered by insurance. Patients authorize Priority 1 Urgent Care to securely maintain payment card information through an encrypted payment processing system. Card information is not stored on-site, is not accessible to staff, and is maintained in compliance with applicable security standards. Co-payments are still collected at the time of service using the patient’s preferred payment method.
If the patient has medical insurance contracted with Priority 1 Urgent Care, we will submit the claim to the insurance carrier on the patient’s behalf, consistent with standard billing practices. Once the claim has been processed, the patient will receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) directly from their insurer outlining what portion of the visit was covered and what amount, if any, remains the patient’s financial responsibility. Priority 1 Urgent Care will also receive a copy of the insurer’s determination. After insurance processing is finalized, Priority 1 Urgent Care will generate a billing statement reflecting any patient-responsible balance. Statements are typically sent by mail and may be followed by additional outreach, including telephone contact, if payment is not received.
If a valid payment card is on file, Priority 1 Urgent Care may charge the remaining patient-responsible balance after reasonable notice has been provided, and in accordance with applicable law and our billing policies. Patients will be provided notice and an opportunity to review charges prior to any payment card being charged. As billing systems and patient communication tools evolve, Priority 1 Urgent Care may utilize secure electronic billing platforms to provide statements, notifications, and payment options. Regardless of delivery method, the same notice and review standards apply. If no balance is due, the payment card will not be charged.
If you have any questions about the Payment Card on File policy, please do not hesitate to contact us via telephone at (518) 867-8040, or by email at info@priority1urgentcare.com.
What if I have questions about or need to dispute my bill?
If you believe there has been a billing error, Priority 1 Urgent Care will work with you to review the matter and issue a refund if appropriate. We only bill patient-responsible amounts as determined by the insurance carrier in the Explanation of Benefits (EOB). Patients are encouraged to contact their insurance carrier with coverage questions upon receipt of their EOB.
